What goods cannot be transported in sea containers?

In fact, most of the goods can be transported by sea in containers; only a few are not suitable.

 

According to the state "on the development of China's containerized transport provisions of a number of issues" in the provisions of the goods suitable for containerized goods for 12 categories, namely, telecommunications, instruments, small machinery, glass and ceramics, handicrafts, printing and paper, medicine, tobacco, alcohol, food, daily necessities, chemicals, needles and textiles, and small hardware, and so on.

 

Which goods cannot handle containerized sea transport?

 

1, fresh and live goods. For example, live fish, shrimp, etc., because of sea transport relative to other modes of transportation, fresh and live goods will deteriorate in the process of transportation.

 

2. If the weight of the goods exceeds the maximum load-bearing weight of the container, such goods cannot be transported by containerized sea freight.

 

3. Oversized goods cannot use containerized sea transport; some large fittings are ultra-high or ultra-wide; these goods can only be placed in the cabin or deck through the bulk carrier to be transported.

 

4. The container does not handle military transportation. Forces or military enterprises for containerized maritime transport, according to commercial transportation. Military transportation using self-contained containers no longer conforms to the conditions of container transportation.

 

In containerized cargo transportation, cargo box safety must be based on the nature of the goods, type, volume, weight, and shape to choose the appropriate container; otherwise, not only some goods cannot be transported, but also the selection of improper containers will lead to cargo damage. Containerized goods, depending on the choice of container, can be considered as follows:

 

(1) clean goods and dirty goods: can choose grocery containers, ventilated containers, open-top containers, or refrigerated containers.
(2) valuable and fragile goods: choice of grocery containers.


(3) refrigerated goods and perishable goods: refrigerated containers, ventilated containers, insulated containers.


(4) bulk goods: can choose bulk containers or tank containers.


(5) animals and plants: choice of livestock (animal) containers, ventilated containers.


(6) Bulky goods: choose an open-top container, frame container, or platform container.


(7) Dangerous goods: choose grocery containers, frame containers, and refrigerated containers.
