Maersk once again announced the suspension of all flights through the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden
Just four hours before the attack on the Red Sea merchant ship, Maersk announced again the suspension of the Red Sea voyage!
At 11:30 on the evening of January 2, Beijing time, Maersk said on its website that following the accident of Maersk Hangzhou on December 30, they have decided to suspend all flights in the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden until further notice.

Maersk said the investigation into the incident was ongoing and would continue to suspend all shipments through the area while further assessing the changing situation. The ship will change course and continue to sail around the Cape of good Hope.
It is understood that on December 27, 2023, Maersk became the first shipping company in the world to announce the resumption of navigation in the Red Sea, and at the same time made public the list of 59 ships resuming passage through the Suez Canal.
But according to CCTV news, Maersk Group said on December 31, 2023, local time, that one of its container ships, the "MAERSK HANGZHOU", was attacked in the southern Red Sea on December 30, and the company would suspend all ships passing through the Red Sea for 48 hours-suspending all traffic through the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden until January 2.
Even as outsiders were watching how long Maersk's suspension would last, Maersk did not keep waiting. After 48 hours of serious assessment, it issued a notice on the afternoon of January 2 local time in Danman, announcing the suspension of all flights in the Red Sea / Gulf of Aden and continuing to detour the Cape of good Hope.
On the day Maersk announced another suspension, the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd also issued an announcement to continue to detour the Cape of good Hope!

The shipping company CMA CGM also issued a price increase notice on January 2, announcing another increase in freight charges for Asian exports to the Mediterranean region from January 15, 2024-a minimum of $3500 for small cabinets and more than $6000 for large cabinets, doubling the $3000 that CMA CGM previously announced.
