February 6, 2025 - Global shipping giants A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) and Hapag-Lloyd AG have officially announced the launch of their jointly developed "Gemini" Ocean Network, which commenced operations on February 1. This innovative service network, born from the integration of both companies' existing resources and fleet capabilities, aims to redefine reliability and efficiency in global maritime logistics.

A New Era of Flexibility and Connectivity
The Gemini Network is designed to deliver over 90% schedule reliability, offering customers a seamless, agile, and highly competitive service. It spans key East-West trade lanes, supported by 29 high-efficiency mainline routes and 28 flexible shuttle services (recently reported as up to 30). These shuttles act as extensions to the core network, enhancing coverage and operational resilience. Approximately 340 vessels-with a combined capacity of 3.7 million TEU-will gradually join the network, underscoring the partners' industry-leading scale and expertise.

Smooth Transition Underway
The transition to the Gemini Network is expected to conclude by the end of May, as vessels complete existing agreements with other carriers. By June, the network will operate at full capacity, with all ships adhering to the Gemini schedule.
