Southeast Asian e-commerce giant Lazada said Wednesday (Sept. 6) that it will increase investment in its Philippine operations to meet the growing demand for online shopping from consumers in the country, according to foreign media reports.
Carlos Barrera, the company's CEO, said, "We have been focusing our investments on key areas that will allow our partners to grow faster and gain more market share."
Carlos Barrera did not disclose the total amount of the investment or related details. However, he noted that Lazada has been holding networking events, training, and developing marketing tools to help sellers stand out in a competitive marketplace.
To further dominate the Philippine e-commerce market, the executive said that Lazada will also speed up the delivery of orders. Notably, in March this year, Lazada announced that it would be setting up hundreds of distribution centers in the Philippines to ship from locations closer to customers.
Going forward, Lazada will continue to accelerate its growth through commerce and technology in the Indonesian, Malaysian, Philippine, Singaporean, Thai, and Vietnamese markets.
